Randoms!

*I woke up Saturday at 3:00 with the stomach flu. Not fun. I basically slept all day and ended up taking off Monday to finish recovering. I am glad I am over it now!!

*I washed off the bookshelf that we are wanting to use for the baby's room the other night. It has a lot of smoke damage. I do think it will still work. I still need to paint it and the wooden letters I bought that spell out his name. I am going to tackle that project Saturday morning.

*Tomorrow, I have a doctors appointment. Matt is going with me and we are going to run to Target afterwards and get everything else we still need for the baby...what can I say, we are last minute people I guess! :)
For dinner we are going to go to Applebees to use a gift card that my parents gave us for Christmas. I am looking forward to it!

*I am ordering some more stuff for the baby today that we can't get in the store. The diaper bag, feeding pillow, some bath supplies, and a sling.

*We are having Matt's side of the family over to eat on Saturday. I am making taco soup and chili. I will also have summer sausage and a vegetable tray. I am looking forward to spending some time with them...and to the taco soup :)

Not too much else going on with us.....did I mention that we only have 3 weeks left?!?! I can't believe it!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!!

My Showers!!!

I had a lot of fun at both showers (church & work). And we got almost everything that we needed! We are sooo lucky to have generous people in our lives! Here are just a few pictures.
The rocking chair Mom and Dad got us. It is really comfortable!!

The swing Grandma Mozelle got us!

This is the assortment of stuff that Malinda and Mat got us. You can't really tell in this picture, but Mat built us a changing table. I will get a better picture later to show you. He sure does have a talent for wood working!!

The church basement decorated!...John Deere of course!!!!

The blanket a lady from church made. It is so adorable!

Me and the cake.

The cake up close!

Mom made us this tie blanket! It will come in handy on cold nights!

The food! ...Yum!

Here are some pictures of the stuff we got from my work shower!

I love the bath tub!!!

I am glad that we didn't buy too many clothes!!

I think we are pretty much ready for our son to arrive now!

Grandma's Christmas Gift!!

Here is the gift I made for my Grandma for Christmas. It is a throw with all of her Grand kids names on it. I think it turned out really good!! Mom helped me put it together, which was a big help!

Here is one of the blocks. I put the first and last name of everyone, along with their birth date.
Here is a up close look at the background.

The finished project!

My New Curtians!

Mom made me some curtains for our front door. I think they turned out great!!
.....and big surprise that they are John Deere :)

Here is them when they are all the way down.

When I want to let a little light in, I just pin them up half way.
I am glad to not have to use a towel to keep light out now! :)

Mose Wanted To Go For A Ride!!

I should of known when I got the car seat out, that we would later find Mose sitting in it! Too cute!

Weekend Recap!

Friday- Stayed home with Matt and watched a movie, Public Enemies. It was a pretty good one, kind of slow in a few spots, but overall a good movie. It was nice to spend time with Matt!

Saturday- Got up early and did a few random things around the house. My job list for before the baby comes is almost gone!!!--what a great feeling that is!!
Matt went to help a friend that had a fire at his shed this past week. When he got done with that (around 3:00), we headed to Jefferson City so he could go to Cingular and get a new cell phone. While he was waiting to speak to a sales person, I walked down to Old Navy and TJ Maxx. I wasn't in Old Navy very long. I only looked at the baby clothes, and I didn't find anything worth buying. At TJ Maxx, I found 2 sleepers and 1 outfit for the baby. I also bought some new dish rags. When Matt and I got married I bought a few packs from Dollar General. And they have seen better days--but they lasted a pretty long time for being from Dollar General!
After we left there, we headed to Eldon to pick up the crib. Matt couldn't fit it in his car on Friday, so he left it at his friends house. After picking it up, we went to the bar that Matt usually goes to on Wednesdays. We had fun visiting with his friend, Dustin.

Sunday- I went to church. Afterwards Malinda, Mom and I headed to Rolla to do some shopping. I stocked up on some cleaning supplies and groceries. That way once the baby is here I won't have to go to shopping for a while. We ate lunch at Subway and had a good time spending the day together! While I was gone, Matt set up the crib!--Pictures to come!! I love it even more in person!!
That evening Matt watched 24 in the living room and Mose and I watched TV in the bedroom.

Today- I did a few things around the house, and then headed into town to have lunch at Mom and Dad's house. Dad made fried chicken, it was very good!
After lunch, I did a combination of different things. Went to Malinda's house, walked 2 miles around town, went grocery shopping, and Mom and Malinda came out to look at the progress of the baby's room. Everything is coming together perfectly!!
For dinner I made jambalaya. The rest of the evening, I am going to relax and take it easy!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

What has been going on lately...

*My baby shower on Sunday went very well!! We received so many nice things, and I had a blast. My church really knows how to throw a good shower!!
I will post pictures as soon as I have a chance...hopefully sometime this weekend!!

*Our last doctors appointment was on Wednesday. The heartbeat was at 147, and everything is looking great! We will be going every week now till I deliver. I can't believe I have almost 4 weeks left!!

*Almost all of our stuff that we have ordered has came in! Matt is picking up the crib, hamper and cradle bedding tonight! And I just got an email yesterday that the cradle has shipped and should be here next week! Matt is going to put together the crib tonight and we are going to rearrange things. I can't wait to see how everything looks!!

*I am going to start making things like, taco meat, sloppy joes, etc.. to freeze. That way when the baby is here I won't have to cook every night.

*The weather has been nice the last couple of days! Mom, Malinda and I walked 2 miles last night around town. It was nice to be able to walk outside again!

*Work is slowing down quite a bit now that tax season is over. I thought the busy period would last a little longer, but I am already back to running out of stuff to look at on the Internet. I need to get into a good book!

*This weekend we don't have much planned. Matt is going to get a new cell phone tomorrow, and I might ride with him. I have Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr Day. I'm not sure what I will end up doing. I need to paint a bookshelf for the nursery sometime this weekend. It is a bookshelf that we saved from the fire at my Grandparent's old house. I am going to clean it up and paint it green and yellow...surprising, huh? :)

Not too much else worth mentioning at the moment. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Mose Must Like Carbs!

This was too funny not to post!
This isn't the first time Mose has gotten into our bread. The first time, Matt was in the living room, so he stopped him before he could actually eat any. But this time, I was still in bed and Matt was on his way to work. I heard Mose messing with something, but I figured it was just some papers. When I got up, the bread was moved from the microwave to the counter, with a hole in it and some of the bread was chewed on. It was obviously Mose, as he sat guilty on the kitchen floor.
You all are probably thinking I am 'a crazy cat lady', but I just love my animals!

I would say he likes bread, but then again, it is the only thing on our counters that is edible. So he doesn't have many options!

"I swear Sarah, I didn't do it" :)

Snow Day(s)!!!

Here is the view out our front door. It was too cold to venture out and take anymore pictures!

After I came in from shoveling snow, Mose laid on my coat for an hour or so. That gave me an excuse not to go outside again!

The last two days have been snow days for me! My boss called and told me not to worry about coming in, since the court house would be empty with no one wanting to get out in the freezing cold weather.

Therefore, I got a ton of stuff done!

Here are some just some of the projects I did:

  • Ironed my curtains.
  • Hand scrubbed all of the hard floors-that took me a while!
  • Did all by 'weekly' chores.
  • Washed all the light fixtures.
  • Took apart the whole refrigerator and cleaned it.
  • 2 loads of laundry.
  • Washed cabinet fronts and chairs.
  • Sorted all of my cabinets and drawers.

As I look at my job list now, I am sooo impressed that almost all of it is highlighted! Tomorrow is supposed to be cold also. So I am going to try to do a few more projects then!

Weekend Recap!

Friday-New Years Day! Didn't do too much at all. Pretty much just laid around the house and snuggled with Mose. :)

Saturday-First Saturday in a LONG time that we haven't had plans!!--such a good feeling! Worked in the living room. I am going to try to focus on one room at a time, getting it clean and ready for the baby to arrive. It went pretty good! This week I am going to tackle the kitchen and the bathroom if the kitchen goes well.

Sunday-Braved the snowy roads and went to church. That afternoon I straightened up the house, updated my cookbook, sorted coupons, and got things ready for work the next day.

For dinner, I invited Mom, Dad, Malinda and Mat all over to eat. I made Chicken and Rice. I also had a fresh garden salad, green beans, homemade bread, fruit cocktail, and cheesecake for dessert. I think everyone had a good time! I love having people over to eat dinner! At the end of the month we should have the nursery completely done, so we are going to have Matt's family over and my family again (separate nights). Matt's family is harder to have over because they stay busy. So I am just going to have to set a date and who can't come will have to come see the nursery some other time.

Looking ahead...

Not much going on this week. Sunday is our Baby Shower!! This is the only shower I am having. I am actullay looking forward to it! It is going to be at my church. The people at my church are so generous, too generous actually. Right now, we have barely anything baby related in the house. We decided to wait until the shower is over to see exactly what we will need till we buy anything. So I am looking forward to having some baby stuff in the house!!

Here is pictures from our dinner Sunday night!
*I forgot to get a picture of the cheesecake, and the green beans and fruit cocktail weren't exciting enough to take pictures of! :)
The salad!

The toppings for the salad!

Homemade bread!

Here is the recipe for the Chicken & Rice. The recipe is very, very easy, and it is from my Great Grandma Frieda. It is a great recipe when feeding a crowd. Enjoy!

Chicken & Rice
Frieda's Chicken & Rice
Place 1 c. uncooked rice (I used 2 cups) in a baking dish. Mix 2 cups milk, 1 can cream of celery, 1 can cream of mushroom or chicken (I used mushroom) with the rice. Sprinkle with 1 package of dry onion soup mix (I sprinkled it after the chicken was already added). Place chicken on top. I just used leg quarters, since they were on sale at the store :) . Bake for about 1 hour or until chicken is cooked through.
*Make sure to check it while it bakes often to make sure the rice isn't getting too dry. If that happens, add more milk.

Peel & Stick Art

Here is that peel and stick art that I put up a while ago. I love how it looks! It adds so much to a blank wall! I am going to get one for the living room eventually also!

*If you want to see pictures of the nursery painted, and Christmas stuff you can scroll down. I just now got around to posting them :)

Some Pictures of Mose!

These pictures were way too cute not to share!!
This picture is so funny! This is his new favorite hiding spot!

I couldn't eat all of my spice cake....so of course Mose wanted some! He loved it!

So much....that we had to take a nap afterwards!

These were so cute with his paw draped over the edge!

Mose enjoyed playing with the boxes leftover from Christmas presents!

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a great New Year!! I sure did!!

I was busy at work all New Years Eve, which I loved, cause time went by sooo fast!! For dinner we went to Mom and Dad's for steak, shrimp, grilled chicken and crab legs! Everything was delicious!!..Dad is such a good cook!! We had a good time visiting with family for a little while. We then went to a friend's house to hang out for a little while. We got home around 11:00 or so, and I could of went to bed right then, but I stayed up till midnight.

New Years Day, I didn't do too much at all! I rested most of the day from being so busy at work the last week. I told Matt I must be getting lazy, but he reassured me that I was so tired because I am pregnant, which is true.

I am excited for the new year and all the new things that Matt and I get to experience this year!!
