Randoms!

* I have been keeping busy at work reading old magazines a friend was giving away! It sure is nice to have something else to do besides look up random stuff on the Internet! Thanks, Dana!

* I finally ordered the Creative Memories software!! I had until today and it was going back to full price (it was 1/2 off for August). I'm going to download the software on my computer tonight! I can't wait to get started!!


* My allergies are bothering me right now. Eyes are itchy, sneezing, runny nose, all the above! Sucks!

* The fair starts tonight! Can't wait to see how Tyler likes the lights, watching the kids, looking at the animals, etc!


* I found 1 book at the book sale. As you can tell in some of my pictures, we have too many books as it is! But I do plan on going back on Saturday when the prices are cheaper and seeing if there's anything I can't live without!

* I am all about pretzels right now! I could snack on them all day! I really like the cheddar ones- but you can't get them in town! Figures!

* I have limited myself to one soda a day! So far- so good! I just don't need all that caffeine (and other bad stuff) and I always feel better when I drink water. I do have to admit the first day or two I felt like I was coming off of crack! Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT bad :)

* I am down to only having some Tyler's Christmas shopping left! I hope to get it done on Labor Day!

Weekend Recap

* Friday- came into town that evening to walk. The weather was so nice!!

* Saturday- Went to breakfast with Malinda (and Tyler). Afterwards we headed to Maramec Springs!!! Mom, Dad, Tyler, Malinda and I! Caleb couldn't come, which was a bummer, but I plan on going again sometime!

We had a good time!! We fed the fish, had a picnic lunch, looked at the museum, driving the historic drive and just had a fun family day! It was just like the old times - plus Tyler!

Tyler enjoyed it more than I thought he would!! He had so much fun throwing food to the fishes! I have lots of pictures!! I will try to post those today sometime!

Tyler was asleep before we left the park, so dad drove him around while we were at the craft sale. The craft sale kind of sucked. There were only a few boothes, and nothing I needed. The only thing I bought was a funnel cake for dad!

When we got back to town, Malinda came out and watched Tyler so I could mow.

That evening, Tyler and I went to the river to join mom and dad for dinner. They bought fried chicken from the deli at the store- yum! We had a good time visiting - oh and we had smores :)

* Sunday- Matt was off work!! We thought he was going to have to work, but he got the day off! We went to the church dinner- I made a brownie/pudding creation- will post recipe & pics soon!

That afternoon, Matt and Tyler went to Ron's for a while. And mom, dad and I went out on the river. We took a boat ride, floated, and sat at a gravel bar for a while. It was such a relaxing day!!

For dinner, we had chicken tenders from the store.

It was a good weekend!!!! :)

Weekend Plans!

Tonight- I want to walk around town!! The weather is beautiful!!! It feels kind of like fall in the mornings!! Which has resulted in my looking up fall recipes! I found on for Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake- I didn't know such a thing existed!! But I know I will be trying it soon!!

Saturday- We are going to Maramec Springs!! I can't wait! We are also stopping by the craft sale on our way out of town!

That evening I might go to the river!

Sunday- Church and then a dinner afterwards. And then no plans the rest of the day!

Dad's boss, Don, gave this shirt to Tyler when he was born. It is a 3T, so I didn't think he'd be able to wear it for a long time. But I put it on him this weekend, and it fit perfectly!!
He is just too cute for words!

Peach (and apple?!) Pie

Here is my recipe for the pie I made last Saturday!! It turned out great!!!

I didn't attempt to make my own pie crust this time, since it was to blame for my pie fail last time. But next time I'm going to try to attempt it again!!

I ended up using some white peaches and some yellow (just because I picked up some white on accident) but I thought it turned out good with both.

I was so excited when a lady said she wanted to buy the whole buy (after eating a piece). She said it was the best pie she had ever had!!

So on Sunday, she brought my pie pan back to me at church. She went on to tell me how much she loved it, and me, smiling ear to ear at her nice comments. Than she told me she had never had an apple peach pie!! I guess she thought the white peaches were apples!! I just went with it- easier that way!!! It sure did make for a good story!!

Onto the recipe!

Peach Pie

Recipe from: Pillsbury

INGREDIENTS

7cups fresh or frozen (partially thawed) sliced peeled peaches (about 3 pounds)

1 1/4cups sugar

1/4cup quick-cooking tapioca

1/4teaspoon cornstarch

1/4teaspoon ground cinnamon

2tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1box refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box

1/2teaspoon all-purpose flour

2tablespoons peach preserves or jelly (I went a little crazy with the peach jelly on top. But more is always better, right?!)

DIRECTIONS

1 Heat oven to 425°F. In large bowl, mix peaches, sugar, tapioca, cornstarch, cinnamon and lemon juice. Let stand 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. 2 Meanwhile, unroll 1 pie crust on work surface. Sprinkle both sides lightly with flour; place in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate. Spoon peach mixture into crust-lined plate. Press firmly against side and bottom. Top with second crust and flute; cut slits in several places. 3 Cover crust edge with strips of foil to prevent excessive browning; bake 20 minutes. Remove foil; brush with preserves. Bake 20 to 30 minutes longer or until golden brown. Cool at least 2 hours before serving.

Thursday Thirteen

Topic this week: my thirteen favorite cleaning supplies!!

1. SOS pads. I buy the Dollar General brand- they work the same. They make cleaning the stove a dream!

2. Scrubbing Bubbles. I clean my bathroom at least once a week- what can I say, I'm obsessed with a clean bathroom! I never use the off brand, makes me get rashes on my arms & just doesn't clean as well!

3. Rug Doctor Spot Cleaner. I used this a lot before we had Tyler, so you can imagine how much more I use it now that Tyler is here!!

4. Dawn. I've used different kinds before, but nothing works quite like dawn when it comes to grease!

5. Shark Steam Mop. I don't use this as much as I would like. But it really disinfects the floors. Which is great when you have a little one around!!






6. Glade Fabric Spray. I like this one better than Febreze. Probably because it's cheaper- but it works great too!

7. Bounty. I used to buy off brand paper towels. Never again! It's worth the extra cash to buy the name brand when it comes to paper towels!

8. Windex. When you have a little boy running around spearing his dirty hands on the windows Windex is a life saver!

9. Febreze Air Effects. Love to spray this after cleaning my house! It kind of 'puts the cherry on the top' for cleaning!

10. Swiffer Sweeper. I always use a broom first (to pick up the big stuff) and then run the swiffer over it. It really does work like a magnet!

11. Swiffer Wet Jet. Of course if I like the swiffer sweeper, the wet jet is going to be a top fav too! It's much easier than the old fashioned string mop!

12. Pledge. I dust every week. And I always have to use Pledge spray. It seems to make the dust stay away longer.

13. Murphy Oil Soap. I don't do my cabinet fronts/ bar stools/ chairs/ etc as much as I should. But when I do Murphy's always helps me get the job done!!

All this talking about cleaning is making me want to get home and scrub something :)
