I'm not one to talk about controversy a lot on my blog. Basically because I don't want my blog to be a place for a debate. It is just my personal thoughts and opinions. So if you don't like or agree with them, you will have to skip over posts like this :)
I'm sure you all have heard of the Time Magazine cover. To me, this is very disturbing. It is a woman breast feeding her 3 year old. She goes on to say she plans on doing it until he is 5 years old. And she does it in public too. First of all, I'm not against breastfeeding in public (as long as your not extremely exposed), seeing as how I've done it in public also :) ... but a kid that old?! - strange!
I'm just so baffled by a woman doing this, or even wanting to do this.
Like I said, some people will think this is okay, to me it's weird and just plain out there.
The second thing I have been hearing a lot about lately is how Obama announced that he is for gay marriage. This topic has been seeming to get a lot of people worked up. In my opinion, I think everyone has the right to be their own person. I think if we were all more willing to agree to disagree, there would be less hate in the world.
Some of the people on facebook said "God already made the decision" and "Maybe somebody needs to give Obama a Bible and tell him to read Genesis 19"
... hmm... maybe it does say that there, but doesn't the bible tell you not to gossip?
Such as these:
Leviticus 19:16 – “Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.”
Proverbs 11:13 – “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.”
And I'm sure those people calling out how gay marriage is wrong have gossiped at some point of time. And have done numerous other things that the bible says is wrong.
I feel bad for the gay children of parents who are so stuck in their own ways. I can't imagine having to live like that. Even though it wouldn't be ideal, I would be okay with Tyler being gay. It wouldn't be what I picked for him, but then again, it's his life, not mine.
No matter what, this subject will always cause controversy. We just have to try to move forward and try to see things from the other side.
Couldn't think of a better way to end this post..
Matthew 7:1 – “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”

My big thing is that God and Christianity is supposed to be about love not hate. I used to work with a lady who is a devout "chritian" and she hates gay people bc it's "wrong". I mean severe hatred and discriminatory against them. Last I remember God said to love one another. I think Jesus loved everyone in spite of what they did and that's how we should live as well.
You're so right, April! I couldn't of said it better!
I agree with you Sarah, using the Bible in this situation is VERY hypocritical. The bible also refers to no sexual relationships before marriage, wonder if they've all lived up to that one? Oh, and it's adultureous to LOOK at another woman with sexual thoughts. Think they're all innocent there??? They're hypocrites and it's annoying! : ) That's all!!! LOL!
And, about the breastfeeding - I actually hadn't seen that until yesterday, on pinterest, of all places. I'd be interested in reading the article to read about the moms thoughts and feelings - the picture is quite shocking, but I guess it's her child and her decision....however, if she feeds him THAT openly in public (SURELY it's over dramatized for the magainze?!?!) that might be a bit much!
Soooo....I just went to Time Magazines website and read the comments people were leaving in relation to the cover (I can't read the article unless I buy the magazine, which I might do...just to learn more about it) - but anyway, not surprisingly, I can see both sides of the issue based on the arguements in the comments. On one side, breast feeding is natural and a mothers choice - also shown to be more nutritonally sound - but on the other side it might not be healthy for the child, not physically, but mentally.....Very controversial issue - and of course, here I am - on the fence like always!
